Sometimes I feel like I have moved into a new world since I have lost my weight. I wish I had a hidden camera to prove it. The way some people interact with me is totally different than the way they used to. Even the checker at the local Walmart treats me differently. As a partaker of both worlds I thought I would shed some light in a way that maybe you never thought of before.
As a thin person, the number one pet peeve of mine is that my life must be perfect. I understand the weight (literally and figuratively) on one's shoulders when weight is an issue. It seems to encompass all facets of life. It stares you in the face every second of the day. It is no wonder that one would think that once the weight is gone life would be bliss. To be honest I am sooooo grateful to have conquered that mountain but, life is never short of troubles regardless of your pant size. A thin person seeks acceptance no differently than anyone else. And, surprisingly enough, doesn't get it as much of it as you would think. There are days when I get worn out trying to overcome the witch-with-a-B (gotta keep it clean) attitude that must be tattooed on my forehead.
Pet peeve number two is "you are skinny" in some form or another. It is like when you are pregnant and someone goes on about how big you are like it is ok. What can you say? Thanks? It is an awkward moment and they happen frequently.
My point is not to scold and no this was not inspired by a certain event. My goal is to get those of you struggling to realize you and a thin person are not from different planets. You are not excluded from the crowd. We are all sisters and we need each other. You have struggles and I have struggles and there is much to be learned from each other. Stand up and put forth what you have to offer - you have a lot. Do not back away because of a number on the scale. Our team is always one short:D
